Video Editing
& Motion Graphics

A practical course designed to give students a strong foundation in video editing and motion graphics using Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects. Students learn tools, workflows and creative techniques through guided practice and projects, helping them create complete video and motion graphics work independently.

Duration
Approximately 4.5–5 months
Level
Beginner to job-ready
Core tools
Premiere · After Effects
Deliverables
6 portfolio pieces

▱ Block one · The cut

Premiere Pro,
taught as
storytelling

Not a tour of panels. You start with rushes and a deadline, and learn the decisions that separate a watchable cut from a limp one — where to enter a scene, when to hold, what to throw away.

  • Project & media management
  • Assembly, rough cut, fine cut
  • Multicam & sync workflows
  • Audio cleanup and mixing
  • Colour correction & grading
  • Delivery specs for every platform

Abstract compositing layers with motion paths and keyframes

▰ Block two · The movement

After Effects,
taught as
design

Motion is timing plus taste. You build a personal easing vocabulary, then apply it to titles, explainers and brand systems that stay consistent across a whole package.

Keyframes & easing curves

The physics of a believable move.

Shape, mask & matte craft

Clean, resolution-independent graphics.

Type in motion

Kinetic typography that stays readable.

Tracking & integration

Graphics that sit inside the shot, not on it.

Course
questions

How long is the course exactly?+

Four and a half to five months, depending on whether you take the weekday or weekend track. The last two to three weeks are a dedicated portfolio block.

Do I need my own laptop?+

Studio machines and edit suites are available during and outside class hours. A personal machine helps for homework but is not required.

Is editing taught before motion graphics?+

Yes. You learn to cut first — rhythm and story — before adding design and animation on top. Motion without timing is decoration.

What do I finish with?+

Six pieces: a short-form edit, a graded brand film, a title sequence, an explainer, a social pack, and a cut reel.

Can this lead to freelance work?+

The course prepares students for freelance workflows and covers rate cards, client briefs and delivery expectations. Outcomes depend on individual skills, portfolio quality, experience and available opportunities.
